If you think you might have what it takes to work alongside young people in housing,  helping them to raise their aspirations , develop new skills and take up opportunities – and you’d like a job where no two days are the same -then we’d love to hear from you! Come and work as part of our local team as YMCA develops new services and opportunities for young people in South Somerset. A background in Youth Work, community education,  teaching, counselling or supported housing can be really helpful but most important is creativity, energy , determination and an ability to relate positively to vulnerable and sometimes challenging young people.

 


Drop in Centre Team Leader – Fixed term until 31/03/2020.

Location : Frome

Salary: £21,939.24 per year

Full-time: 37.5 hours per week (included evenings and week-ends)

Job Purpose:

To provide information, advice, guidance and activities for young people, supporting them in accessing external agencies when needed.

To provide an Informal, welcoming environment designed with and for young people to promote their involvement in YMCA Mendip drop in centre as a place of belonging and safety.

Currently YMCA Mendip drop in centre comprises of a drop in centre within a youth café environment.

Foyer Manager – permanent

Location : Frome

Salary: £25,000 per year

Full-time: 37.5 hours per week on shifts (included evenings and week-ends)

Job Purpose:

To have responsibility for the Frome Foyer, its staff and activity within.

Ensuring it provides a lively, engaging quality support service for residents and young people from the community

The foyer is a multi-purpose facility offering a range of services for young people:

Accommodation and support – supported housing provision that seeks to prevent homelessness and provide excellent progressive support to residents to help them prepare and move onto living independently.

Drop in Centre in a youth café setting – offering open access to activities and information, advice and guidance

Accommodation Worker

Location:               Wells
Hours:                   37.5 hours (Monday- Friday from 10.30 to 18.30)
Salary:                  £19,524.90 per year
Contract Type:       Fixed Term 1 year

The Role

This is a new role in an exciting new housing project for homeless adults. This varied post is designed to provide housing management, rent accounting and administration support to clients and staff, but also encompasses providing support to adults who are homeless and in need of Emergency Accommodation.

Support will be provided across the district where needed, both accommodation and community based work, to assist those who need comprehensive housing support to identify, secure and set up move on accommodation to achieve independent living.

Flexibility is required to ensure that the needs of the clients in Mendip are met and that clients are moved on and supported effectively.

The post holder will:

  • Be prepared to undergo an Enhanced CRB and check of the ISA Vetting & Barring Scheme
  • Be able to respect the Christian ethos of the YMCA and uphold it’s values.

3 x Concierge Officers for YMCA Mendip’s Supported Housing Projects

The successful candidates will be required to work nights & weekends to within a varied shift pattern

Salary rate: £8.50 per hour

We are looking for 3 staff members to join our team working between FROME – SHEPTON MALLETT – STREET & WELLS

If you have good communication skills, are a positive thinking and have the ability to adapt to an ever changing environment we would like to hear from you.

Candidates must hold a valid S.I.A. Licence & A First Aid qualification

The duties include ensuring the safety of the residents, liaising with the customer support team and emergency services as & when required, monitoring internal CCTV, patrolling the premises, dealing with incidents and residents issues in a timely and appropriate manner, monitoring the movements of all visitors in & out of the buildings.

Full training will be provided to carry out this role.

Rate of Pay:

Minimum of £7.80 per hour +Relief Annual leave
payment £0.83 per hour subject to role being undertaken
