Post: Youth Worker

Location: Based at Westfield Youth Club in Yeovil

Hours: 3.5 hours per week on Wednesday evenings

Rate of Pay: £9.99 per hour from 1st April 2017

Contract Type: Fixed term until 31/03/2019

As a Youth Worker at Mendip YMCA and south Somerset you will provide a safe, welcoming and fun environment for young people aged 11-19 accessing the youth club, to design, deliver and evaluate a range of informal learning opportunities.

You may have experience as or in:  Care Worker, Care Staff, Care Assistant, Support Staff, Support Worker, Challenging Behaviour, Voluntary Sector, Social Work, Social Care Worker, Teaching, Teaching Assistant, Community Services, Community Development, Youth Work, Youth Worker, and Youth Provision

The post holder will:

  • be prepared to undergo an Enhanced DBS
  • be able to respect the Christian ethos of the YMCA and uphold its values.

Post: Youth Project Team Leader

Location: Based at Street Youth and Community Centre but delivering project work in Street & Glastonbury

Hours: 7.5 hours per week (day and evening project work)

Rate of Pay: £12.61 per hour from 1st April 2017

Contract Type: Fixed term until 31/03/2020

The Role

  • To work with Youth & Community Team Leader West Mendip (line-manager) in developing a strategic delivery plan for project work in Street & Glastonbury.
  • To manage a team of project workers and be involved in delivery across both towns in order to increase development of our services.
  • To work with local young people, in their community, through setting up, delivering and evaluating a range of relevant, effective youth work projects. Each project would last between 6-10 weeks and be relevant to the community and provide young people with fun informal learning and developmental opportunities.
  • To deliver an annual town centre project to challenge perceived negative stereotyping of young people
  • To provide young people in the area with support, guidance, and positive activities in order to help them reach their potential and become valued members of the community

You may have experience as or in:

Outreach Worker, Support Staff, Support Worker, Challenging Behaviour, Voluntary Sector, Social Work, Social Care Worker, Teaching, Teaching Assistant, Community Services, Community Development, Youth Work, Youth Worker, Detached Youth Worker and Youth Provision, line managing a team, project development

A&E Services (UK) Ltd in partnership with YMCA Mendip are seeking to recruit:

3 x Concierge Officers for YMCA Mendip’s Supported Housing Projects

The successful candidates will be required to work nights & weekends to within a varied shift pattern

Salary rate: £8.50 per hour

We are looking for 3 staff members to join our team working between FROME – SHEPTON MALLETT – STREET & WELLS

If you have good communication skills, are a positive thinking and have the ability to adapt to an ever changing environment we would like to hear from you.

Candidates must hold a valid S.I.A. Licence & A First Aid qualification

The duties include ensuring the safety of the residents, liaising with the customer support team and emergency services as & when required, monitoring internal CCTV, patrolling the premises, dealing with incidents and residents issues in a timely and appropriate manner, monitoring the movements of all visitors in & out of the buildings.

Full training will be provided to carry out this role.
