 Job vacancy: Youth Support Worker

We currently have the following vacancy located in Frome:

Youth Support Worker:  Fixed term contract for one year

Salary: £13,611 per year (£20, 416.15 FTE)

Part-time: 25 hours per week on average shifts (included evenings and week-ends).

Job Purpose:

We are looking for an excellent a support worker to meet the needs of unaccompanied young people who arrived in the UK without a parent or a guardian, many of whom are suffering from a number of complex issues including social isolation and alienation, trauma, lack of self –confidence and low self-esteem.

We want you to support young people, focusing on building life skills and promoting personal and social development in order to achieve the four project outcomes:

  • Young asylum seekers to develop and improve support network, to gain new skills and friendship in the community.
  • Reduced sense of isolation and alienation for young asylum seekers in Frome and improved integration into the British society.
  • Young asylum seekers have better access to social, leisure and volunteering opportunities achieving a better degree of integration in the community.
  • Young asylum seekers have an increased confidence and self-esteem enabling them to reach to reach their full potential.

MENDIP YMCA – Youth Worker at Glastonbury Youth Club

Exciting job opportunity as we are expanding our services and provision for young people!  We are looking for people who will make a difference with young people in their communities

The post is being funded by the Youth & Community Group Grant by Somerset County Council

Post:                       Youth Worker
Location:               Glastonbury Windmill Hill Youth Club
Hours:                   3 hours per week on Wednesday evenings
Rate of Pay:          £10.18 per hour
Contract Type:       Fixed term until 31/03/2019
The Role

As a Youth Worker at Mendip YMCA and south Somerset you will provide a safe, welcoming and fun environment for young people aged 11-19 accessing the youth club, to design, deliver and evaluate a range of informal learning opportunities.

You may have experience as or in:  Care Worker, Care Staff, Care Assistant, Support Staff, Support Worker, Challenging Behaviour, Voluntary Sector, Social Work, Social Care Worker, Teaching, Teaching Assistant, Community Services, Community Development, Youth Work, Youth Worker, and Youth Provision

The post holder will:

  • be prepared to undergo an Enhanced DBS
  • be able to respect the Christian ethos of the YMCA and uphold its values.

Vacancy – Relief Workers across Mendip and South Somerset

Relief Workers play an important and valuable role in covering staff absences and in ensuring continuity of support to Young people and clients with whom we work with in the district of Mendip.

Vacancies: Relief Workers required for Supported Housing and Youth Work across all sites in Mendip and in South Somerset

  Rate of Pay:

  • The rate will be £9.74 per hour + accumulated holiday pay, i.e. £10.88 per hour.

  • Have experience in working with young people
  • Have efficient and organised recording and administrative skills
  • Are prepared to undergo an Enhanced DBS and check of the ISA Vetting & Barring Scheme
  • Are a car driver with a clean driving license and access to transport

A&E Services (UK) Ltd in partnership with YMCA Mendip are seeking to recruit:

3 x Concierge Officers for YMCA Mendip’s Supported Housing Projects

The successful candidates will be required to work nights & weekends to within a varied shift pattern

Salary rate: £8.50 per hour

We are looking for 3 staff members to join our team working between FROME – SHEPTON MALLETT – STREET & WELLS

If you have good communication skills, are a positive thinking and have the ability to adapt to an ever changing environment we would like to hear from you.

Candidates must hold a valid S.I.A. Licence & A First Aid qualification

The duties include ensuring the safety of the residents, liaising with the customer support team and emergency services as & when required, monitoring internal CCTV, patrolling the premises, dealing with incidents and residents issues in a timely and appropriate manner, monitoring the movements of all visitors in & out of the buildings.

Full training will be provided to carry out this role.
